We strive toward reduction of emissions by using more environmentally friendly propulsion systems such as LNG or electric drives. Also the regular maintenance and improvements in the energy efficiency the routing for an efficient fuel consumption of the barges.

RESPONSIBILITY/SUSTAINABILITY

Inland shipping

plays a crucial role in our globalized world and has made enormous progress in terms of sustainability and responsibility in recent years, with inland waterways being an extremely environmentally friendly transport option in contrast to other modes of transport such as road or in the air transport. They cause less air pollution and produce significantly fewer CO2 emissions per ton of transported quantity.

Overall, inland shipping shows a strong commitment to sustainability and responsibility. The industry is continually working to minimize its environmental impact and develop innovative solutions to make transport more efficient and environmentally friendly.

MANLESS AUTONOMOUS DRIVING

A revolution on the waterways

In recent years, inland shipping has proven to be an important part of global transport with it’s high loading capacities and hence the energy efficiency.

An important step towards the future is unmanned driving.

It refers to the use of technologies and systems that allow a ship to navigate autonomously. This can range from controlling the ship to following the route to monitoring maintenance work and safety aspects.

Advantages

Autonomous driving includes several advantages, such as minimizing human errors and thus higher safety. In addition, general efficiency can be increased with regard to working hours. More environmentally friendly driving is also possible, which also reduces costs as routes and speed are optimized.

Challenges & Future prospects

Although unmanned navigation in inland waterway transport is undoubtedly promising, several challenges still lie ahead, including developing consistent safety standards, managing cybersecurity risks and adapting to legal and regulatory frameworks.

Nevertheless, the future of unmanned driving in inland shipping is necessary and promising.

Overall, synthetic materials offer a number of advantages in inland shipping and we are increasingly relying on these materials to increase the efficiency and sustainability of inland shipping. We are more and more relying on these materials to increase the efficiency and sustainability of inland shipping which minimizing the environmental impact.

SYNTHETIC FABRICS

Synthetic fabrics are playing an increasingly important role, particularly in relation to materials used in construction and the maintenance of ships. That also has a positive impact on the environment and improves the reputation of inland shipping.

Fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP)

Synthetic materials such as glass fiber reinforced plastics (GRP) and carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) are increasingly being used to build ships and boats. These materials are lightweight, corrosion resistant and have high strength, resulting in more efficient and longer lasting vessels. They are also more environmentally friendly as they can help reduce fuel consumption.

Synthetic oils and lubricants

Synthetic oils, lubricants and fuels are also used in the maintenance, repair and operation of marine engines to improve performance and reduce wear. This helps to increase efficiency and extend the life of the engines.
